Data projects performed: Q-Worx provided in-house Linux support and engineering services for the Altice (formerly Cablevision) eMedia organization, responsible for all video streaming to iOS, Android, and Desktop users, as well as all web infrastructure comprised largely of Solaris 8 and 10, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and 6. Infrastructure varied from HP/Dell rack equipment, to VMWare ESX clusters, to Amazon Web Services EC2. Projects performed at an Enterprise Science/Research Pharmaceutical business: Successfully migrated 86 physical servers and 19 virtual servers supporting 194 applications (8 validated and 186 non-validated), migrated production and backup SAN (data storage systems), robotic tape backup library, voice services, re-routed all public facing networks, and performed initial IT testing of all systems. Migrated a 32-bit scientific computing cluster environment running Sun Grid Engine, and all associated applications such as Schrödinger's Maestro, MEDIT, and OpenEye software, to a 64-bit environment. This included: - Modified the role of one master server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4AS 32-bit (hugemem kernel), so that it only handled sixteen specific custom older nodes running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4AS 32-bit (hugemem kernel) for backwards compatibility - Addition of a new master server running twelve local cores on an HP Proliant G5 DL360, governing the rest of the new 64-bit cluster - Converted five HP Proliant G5 DL140 nodes running RHEL 5.3 32-bit (hugemem kernel), to RHEL 6.3 x86_64 - Converted ten HP Proliant G5 DL360 nodes running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 32-bit (hugemem kernel), to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 x86_64 - Implemented a new Ganglia monitoring system for the new cluster, working cooperatively with the old Ganglia monitoring system Created a tiered multi-platform network storage, integrating multiple services cooperatively, including Samba, and NFS, while migrating data from a wide variety of environments, to an HP Proliant DL360 G5 with a HP StorageWorks MSA2000 SAN, an HP Proliant DL360 G5 with an HP MSA 2000i SAN, and an HP Proliant DL360 G6 with an HP EVA4400 SAN, all running RHEL 6.3 x86_64. Projects performed at a Mid-sized Retail business: Built a full helpdesk management solution, utilizing Python and Google API, against an OTRS MySQL DB, with PHP front end. |
